So that I can continue my love affair with cereal, General Mills, via MyBlogspark, sent me 4 coupons for a free box of General Mills cereal. Each coupon is good for a single box of cereal up to a $6 value. I don't think I've ever seen a box of $6 cereal, but you can bet your butt that I'm gonna try to find one.
Since I'm totally a giver, I'm giving two of them out to one of my blog readers. Here's the deal, leave a comment below with a cereal related memory from your past. On Monday, January 11th I will randomly choose a winner.
Here is my most vivid cereal memory. I still remember it like it happened yesterday. It was my sophmore year in college. I had just finished my last final of the spring semester. I poured myself a HUGE bowl of Lucky Charms. I poured the milk in and settled into our old green vinyl lounge chair. I dug into the cereal. After the first bite I realized that the milk was sour and my entire bowl of cereal was ruined. I was so upset and had been so looking forward to that bowl of cereal that I cried.
Okay- your turn.
I love wheat chex. I love the cardboard flavor, the hearty crunch, the fact that it has so much fiber in it that you really have to limit your intake or else. I remember one of the first mornings with my new roommate, we were preparing our cereal together. She looked over at my meager bowl of chex and asked "Is that all you're going to have?" All I could say was "Yes." She thought I had an eating disorder, I just knew I had to watch the fiber intake. Or else.
ReplyDeleteas a kid we on;y got sugar cereal on the weekends, it was cheerios or wheaties during the week. Come Saturday we were all fighting over the Frosted Flakes. hhehe
ReplyDeleteI used to love when we had cereal for breakfast because of the prize in the box as a kid. It wasn't a daily treat though. Likewise my kids generally only get the sugary stuff on Saturdays.

My fav memory w/cereal is when my brother and I visited my Nana's. She would stock up on Cookie crisp (which we never got at home). We devoured (sp?) it every time we came for a visit! Yum! Jenprincess88 at aol dot com
ReplyDeleteI remember we rarely got name brand cereal but when we did we loved fruity pebbles

The biggest memory that sticks out from being pregnant with my first child, was that pretty much all I ate was cereal. It was fast, easy, didn't upset my morning sickness stricken stomach, and was yummy. Cereal made that pregnancy do-able.

I used to love to eat Lucky Charms and save all the marshmallows for last!
ReplyDeleteI loved to eat sugary cereal as a kid, but my favorite part of opening a box was the prize. I had a sweet Garfield bike reflector collection.

When my brother was little he would eat ketchup on his bowel of milk and cherrios. We all thought it was so gross which is probably why he did it. He has three big sisters
ReplyDeletei loved digging through a box of cereal just to find the prize..i remember getting up earlier than my sister just to beat her to the new box!

I love, love, love Captain Crunch. As an adult, I vow to never buy it as I can literally eat an entire box in one sitting, by myself. Sigh...
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid it was always a special treat to get Lucky Charms, one of our favorite cereals. The reason we didn't get it often is because we would pick out all the marshmallows and leave the rest of the cereal! :)
ReplyDeleteWhen my sister and I were little, my parents never bought sugared cereals. We got Cheerios, Rice Chex and sometimes Rice Krispies (often the store brand). But when we stayed with my grandparents (Mom's parents who lived about 15 miles away) we got to eat Golden Grahams for breakfast. They weren't as good as my grandmother's chocolate chip cookies (which she ALWAYS had in abundance and always sent home with us) but they were close. And it was such a real treat to get sweetened cereal. Still makes me smile today.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win!
